As of September 14, 2007 the Arctic Sea Ice cap is at its smallest extent since satellite data has been monitoring changes. This has opened the Northwest Passage. A montage of visualizations from the U.S. National Snow and Ice Data Center, Google Earth and NASA World Wind is presented below:
